Di’s Pizza Pies transforms one of St. Catharines’ most recognizable buildings, formerly home to the beloved Diana Sweets Diner. The original diner not only inspired the shop’s name, but also Ron Sexsmith’s song “Diana Sweets.” During design, several heritage elements—including the terrazzo tile reading “Diana Sweets” and the original mosaic floors—were discovered and intentionally preserved. These features guided the branding and interior approach, ensuring the space honours its history while embracing a fresh identity.

Mechanical and engineering work involved a full HVAC redesign, commercial kitchen hood systems, plumbing rework, grease management, and upgrades to electrical and mechanical services to support independent operation.

The result is a modern, high-performing pizzeria that respects the legacy of a downtown landmark while delivering a functional, efficient, and inviting space for the next generation of St. Catharines hospitality.
